Paragard - a not so bad experience
I got my Paragard in a week ago today.
I went in absolutely terrified by all of the painful insertion stories I had read.
But I've learned something, people who had a bad experience are more likely to report it than people who had a pleasant or normal experience.
I'm here to tell you mine!
It hurt, don't get me wrong. But only for the 10 seconds of measuring my uterus and the 35 seconds of insertion. I sat up and was seeing stars. I made a noise of pain out loud during insertion. It feels WEIRD!
But after leaving my doctors office, i experienced maybe 3 "bad" cramps. But the cramps I experienced this period were much more mild than my typical period cramps. I had more bleeding, but that was to be expected.
So far so good, no complications, no weird pains. Just a normal experience with an IUD.
My advice - don't be scared, if you think an IUD is right for you, get it. Don't let other people's horror stories hold you back, some peoble may have had a bad experience, but remember there are just as many who have had good experiences!!
I just want girls who are getting one in and only see the bad side to see that it's manageable, and might not be as awful S others say! Of course experiences will vary, but if I can give at least one person a peace of mind before going in to the doctors for insertion, I'll be happy!!!
