Boyfriend doesn't like my new friend

My boyfriend and I have been together for 3 years and we are both 20. I recently got a new friend and she's really nice. She's plus size and my boyfriend makes fun of her weight. He even told me "No wonder she's a lesbian, no man would want her." Every time I defend her he gets pissed off at me. I don't know what to do anymore. Should I just not be her friend to avoid confrontation? Also, should I tell her what my boyfriend says? I haven't told her anything because I don't want to hurt her feelings.
