Can abusive men ever change?

Question

The man I am interrested in was jailed for assaulting his exwife. She was cheating and he shoved her and she fell into a glass coffee table.

He has been to anger management and therapy , he claims he is a changed man.

He is very sweet and respectful of me. I just don't want to begin a relationship with a man who would abuse me.

Once an abuser always? Or does he have a chance?

I wouldn't be able to date him. What if he gets angry at you for something and snaps? I'd be too scared.

I would say if you're going to be in a relationship with him or try to.. Continue to go through therapy you can never be to sure of yourself.. It's not wrong to think he can change. 
People are full of mistakes.. But I would definitely continue to seek some type of therapy and couple therapy to see if the two of you are even compatible

There are literally millions of people in this world. Why settle for the known and documented abuser?! You must not think very highly of yourself. People very rarely change, and when they do, it is generally many many years of therapy and then maintenance therapy to stay that way. Don't do it

It all depends. Some people change some don't. All the advice I can give you is test him out and if you see 1 type of abuse, drop him fast! But some people deserve a 2nd chance. He probably wasn't thinking due to his ex cheating on him. He he respects you move forward but rake your time, don't rush into anything! I wish you luck with him. Just keep yur guard up.

I wouldn't even take the chance. Abusers don't start being abusive right out of the gate. They ease into it a little at a time. You're only getting his side of the story. There's probably a lot more to it. There are a lot of great men out there. Don't settle

I do believe an abuser can change, but unfortunately it doesn't happen very often. It is very hard for a person first to admit they are abusive and then to be able to become so aware of themselves where they can catch their behavior in order to avoid perpetuating the cycle of abuse. As a matter fact, my sister was in your exact predicament and chose to believe that the man she married was reformed. Well, she was wrong. For a few years he seemed fine and then eventually he did start showing his true colors. My advice to you would be to avoid drama, pain, and abuse at all costs before you become too invested. Choose self-preservation.

Course they can. Before I met my partner he was a tear away. Taking drugs, Drug dealing and beating his ex. He met me, I got pregnant and he went away for the whole of the pregnancy. He came back when I rang to say I was having the baby. Since then he's changed his life. When he went he took anger management classes and got a therapist. He got off the drugs and stopped selling them. He's now a brilliant daddy to our children and works his Arse off to provide for us all. They can change. And they do.
