How do you know if your baby has thrush?

Anyone has a photo of their baby's tongues in general? Does it have a milk residue and is that consider normal?

Mine has white residue and sometimes bit of whites-- hubby and I call it "tofu" lol. They sometime scrape off but most of the time there is always a LOT of white residue left. It doesn't seem to bother him or his feeding and my breastfeeding feels fine, nothing is painful.

The doc prescribed him thrush medication anyways in case but my gut tells me that I don't think he has thrush but I'm a first time mom so maybe I don't know. Does anyone has experience with thrush?

My daughter had thrush and took a few weeks to get rid of it. Look on the inside of your babies cheeks and the gums too, not just the tongue. If there are white spots , almost cottage cheese looking, you've got thrush.

It didn't affect my daughters eating habits, but if you let it go too long without giving them medicine it gets worse. My doctor said it that it can go down their throats and make them uncomfortable to the point where it does affect their feeding.

It's really important for baby to swallow the medicine so that it reaches their throat and it is safe to swallow! Do don't worry about that

Ditto to what Samantha said. Symptoms for you would be a tingling or burning after nursing. The oral nystatin is what you need and if there's any signs I'd give it to baby bc like Samantha said if left u treated it can get bad and affect her nursing. the cream never worked to help me get rid of it so my pediatrician told me to wash my nipples with vinegar before and after every feeding to keep from passing it back and forth to my baby and that helped clear it up. Also keep using the medicine about a week after symptoms go away bc it can come back fast!

Baby and I were both treated for thrush for 2 months before finding out she had reflux. Apparently the white coating is a sign of reflux too. Got her on Zantac and 2 days later her tongue was normal!
