In-laws will not get the tdap shot?

So this weekend me and my husband go get our Tdap shot, my in laws are the only family members that live close by. My husband said that he asked them if they would get the vaccine and they said no because they didn't have to with any of the other grand kids. So how are you ladies handling the situation?? Of course I want them to see the baby.. But I also don't want my baby exposed to anything. Not sure what to do in this situation.

Isn't the primary reason we get the vaccine during third trimester to pass the antibodies on to baby until it can get vaccinated at 2 months?

They wouldn't be allowed to see the baby until they've gotten vaccinated. Or they can wait until the baby gets fully vaccinated they they can visit. Send them some info on why you're asking for them to get it done and leave it at that. That's how I'd handle it

My parents never got the tdap vaccine hell neither did my husband . I was the only one who  did . I'm fine with it because like your parents said not everyone is going to do what you want like anti vaccinate people

90% of whooping cough cases are caught from the primary carer. So long as they aren't sick I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought.

I would tell them as my doctor told me to explain it, there are more people coming into the United States from other countries that don't get the vaccine therefore putting us more at risk and it's shown that pertussis is becoming more prevalent because of it.
I looked it up and there have been more cases of pertussis in the past few years then ever before.  If they can't understand that then just politely let them know that they won't be able to be around the baby because it's your baby and your choice to protect him/her from the seen and unseen.

I'm not going to make a big issue of my inlaws not getting the tdap, I am going to make sure they get the flu shot since it's more common. My MIL is one of those who thinks it should make her immune from ALL illness and can't understand the difference between the flu (respiratory) and food poisoning 🙄

It's up to you. I've known people that didn't allow you to see the baby unless you got the shot. I've never made everyone get it, but my baby isn't really ever around people. My family lives 6 hours away, and my husband's family never visits.
