Going into labor without any warning signs

Is it possible to not have any warning signs and then have your body go into labor? Or do you always have the contractions prior to labor? I'm taking a labor class next week. I only have three weeks left to go and it's been on my mind. I rember watching a show where women never knew they were even pregnanct ( I don't see how that wld even be possible!)
