Mirena IUD??

So I'm getting the mirena IUD tomorrow and I'm really nervous. Does it hurt when they put it in? Is there cramping after? How does it effect your periods after? Any experiences or info would be awesome. Thank you!! (:

I got it Jan 2012 and had it removed Nov 2015...wanting to conceive.....
When I got it...it felt like a pinch when they did it....I had severe cramping after and I had my period for a whole month after getting it.....the length of my periods decreased each month....nd I would go months without having a period...and when I did have it it lasted about 4 days maybe and all I had to use was panty liners because it was so light.
Everyone's body is different so it just kinda depends....
I mean if you don't wants kids anytime soon it's a good one to use....they are good for 5 years so that is a plus.

Mine was painful to get put in. But they also had to dilate my cervix to get mine in, which was painful so they prescribed something for me to take after for the cramping. I was fine by the next day. Definitely take some Tylenol before you go though and just try to relax during it.

Definitely take some Tylenol before hand. My doctor prescribed me a medication that relaxed my cervix so it wouldn't hurt as bad but it didn't help. It hurt like hell and she miss placed it the first time so she had to do it again. Cramps for a few hours that hurt but eventually go away. Heat!

I had some bad cramping when I had mine inserted. My doctor recommended I take an ibuprofen before my appointment - which I regretfully forgot to do. The pain didn't last too long, though. My periods remained the same in terms of regularity and length. Every month for four days. I didn't get acne or weight gain with it which was nice.
