Herpes or ingrown hairs

Ok so I had pain in my lip area so i was feeing around and there are like 6 bumps i have popped them but they hurt so bad I have been putting antibiotic cream on them and it seems to be helping a little but Im scared I might be over reacting but has anyone had ingrown hairs on the vaginal are do they hurt how long do they go away. Please help me ease my mind.
