Nervous about Birth Control.

I have read plenty about all different kinds of birth controls and how many side effects people have and after they are off the after effects, so I am very nervous, but my boyfriend & I want to have sex, but he doesn't exactly trust condom even WITH pulling out (we both want to be as safe as possible...) but he said if I am not comfortable taking birth control then we will figure something else out. I am open to thinking about birth control, but I would really like some suggestions on the best kinds (not implants) & how high are the chances of getting all those side effects😅 kind of a health fanatic...I don't really like taking medicine, but it seems to be the BEST option for the situation😅 ugh...help??
