What to do with baby's ashes...

Question

In December I gave birth to twin boys, sadly one did not survive due to rare complications which resulted in me having an emergency section at 32 weeks.

We had our son cremated, and just yesturday (after 5 long months) we got up the courage to pick up his ashes from the funeral home. :(  I have no clue what to do with them. I want him with me always, and don't want to bury them, or spread them. I have no clue what my other options are.

We both feel relief that he is now home with us. And the surviving twin is doing so very well, for that we are thankful for.

First, my deepest condolences. I can't imagine what you've gone through. When my great-grandpa passed my mom, aunt, and grandma got crucifix necklaces with his ashes in the pendants and everything else went into a small urn my great-grandma has at her house. Some people think it's weird but I thought it was sweet. It might be something worth looking into.

So sorry for your loss. I believe that there is a way they can create a diamond out of ashes. It's done in a lab, so they're not real diamonds, but you could place it on a necklace as a pendant and always wear him close to your heart.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my baby 21 weeks pregnant. Apparently a pregnancy loss after 20 weeks is considered a baby rather than a fetus (miscarriage) so we had to file a death certificate and bury/cremate the body. I keep his ashes on the fireplace mantel because I wanted the baby to be at home with us.

My friend lost her father a few months ago and she is planning to take some of his ashes and mix it with tattoo ink and get a tattoo for him. (Not sure your stance on tattoos)

The funeral home I worked with on a family member's service had a whole wall of options for cremated remains, including the gemstones others have mentioned and other objects you can keep close by. If the place that handled the cremation doesn't have that, maybe another local funeral home could let you know what services they have available. I don't think they'd charge anything for just making the inquiry.

The tattoos and gemstones would make it easy to keep them with you, but you can also look at the tree planting and nature options if that's more suitable for your tastes.

Not sure if you've ever heard of Artful Ashes. But they do awesome keepsakes like these (different shapes and colors) and they are awesome! The white is where the ashes. I'm so sorry for your loss, 💕

My 6 yo nephew was cremated, I picked up the ashes for my brother. We had the funeral home fill several necklaces that me, my brothers, my mom and aunt all wear.  I'm sure your son (the surviving twin) would want one in the future. My brother plans on being cremated in the far future and combining their ashes and then we spread ashes in places my nephew loved as a family.  If you plan on living at your house for a while, you can do the tree where you use the ashes to form a tree, or a diamond.  There are so many things you can do.
