Bottle sterilizer?

Question

Any experienced moms know if a bottle sterilizer is necessary? I dont have a dish washer so I figured that would be best for cleaning. Thoughts?

I had put one on my registry and it was the absolute worst. It was a pain in the ass and I only used it a few times before returning it. I would just boil a large pot of water on the stove and sterilize them that way. I have a dishwasher too, but I liked the hot water better. I didn't feel like the dishwasher was enough. We also used Dr. Browns and they have a lot of parts.

I never had a dishwasher or a sterilizer. Soak them in hot water and youll be fine.

My mom got one for my first baby because I pumped and bottle fed and it took forever to boil all the parts but the sterilizer was able to sterilize a bunch of nipples and bottles in 6 minutes which was amazing! We will use it for this baby as well...it just saved us so much time and worry from checking the stove and keeping an eye if the bottles over boil and whatnot. It's not necessary to have one but it worked for us!

I only used one for a couple of months. I don't know if I would say it's absolutely necessary but I did it until baby had all her shots and stuff so I knew she wasn't getting any extra bacteria and such. If u don't want to buy a sterilizer they make the quick clean steam bags, you can re-use them 5 times and there's 5 or something in a box. I bought my sterilizer at Burlington so it was half the price of a regular store.
