Two periods a month on the mini pill 😩

My daughter is 14 months old and breastfed at night, and I have been on the mini pill since 6 weeks post-partum. Since my period started back Feb this year (about 11months post-partum) I have been getting two periods a month! And it's not even one just being breakthrough bleeding, they are both heavy bleeding with intense cramping and lasting 5 days each time! They come regularly too, always to the day! I've been to my doctor about this and he just said to wean from breastfeeding and go onto a different pill (which would stop my milk supply) I'm not happy with this solution, but these periods are making me miserable! And I'm sure it can't be good losing that much blood each month. Any ideas or solutions? I'm really at my wits end!
