How Much Did Getting A Mirena Hurt?

I'm getting either the mirena or the slightly smaller one (depending on the size of my uterus) next Tuesday and I'm really worried about how much it might hurt. Please share your experiences with getting it placed!

I reccomend you take something for the pain beforehand. Maybe even talk to your doc about something strong and Something for the nervousness youre experiencing. They may be willing to accommodate that. If you've never had a child, I hear it's supposedly more painful. I have not, and had mine put in 4 days ago after a previous failed attempt a couple months ago. It was like, your worst cramps (if you suffer from those) amplified times a thousand, in my case. I took two Vicodin before and still cried. I have a high pain tolerance, I've done wisdom teeth, broken cartilage, a dozen painful piercings, and a tattoo. My iud insertion was much worse than any of those. However I have a VERY difficult uterus I am told, which is why the first time they were unable to measure me to the proper length and I endured 20 minutes of sounding before the doctor refused to continue trying. Make sure you bring someone to hold your hand. even if yours is as rough as mine, try to be strong and tell yourself It will be worth it! It's only a couple minutes of pain, and then you're all done. For some women it's not bad at all! Best of luck!

It didn't hurt me at all, but I was super nervous so my doctor gave me an anto anxiety pill. But I also had a baby, so I Heard it hurts less after you have a child!
