Favorable cervix??

Question

I went to the Dr. Today! 39W1D I'm a 3+ and have a "favorable cervix". What does that mean? I got stripped today.. I was stripped exactly a week ago and nothing. My Dr said I can be induced whenever, and it may be "drug free" he would start with breaking my water and see what my contractions did from there! I DO NOT wanna be induced due to the drugs (pitocin ect.) anyone have any stories? And advice/input on favorable cervix? THANKS!

I was induced at 38+1 with my first for high BP. I was a 2 in triage, and then a 3 when they broke my water. That was it, I had my baby girl 3 hrs later with some gas and air to get me through transition 😊

Sounds like your body is doing just what it needs!! So neat to see it dilating and softening on its own, even before your due date and labor begins. I'd personally let it happen naturally and trust your body, but that is simply my opinion.

I won't get water broken myself ever again. my doctor induced me at 38 weeks with baby #1 (in 2013) and the water breaking really hurt because my doctor basically pushed his hand up in there without lubrication. It stressed me out because it was painful, and ended up stressing the baby, causing his heart rate to go up. I had a c-section because of the stress on the baby. I will never get induced again. It was painful and not worth it in my mind. I have a different doctor who does VBACs, he basically lets you lead and have your way as long as it is safe.

As for "favorable", maybe that means it's soft? My doctor said mine is "very soft". He didn't tell me what her station was but he said she was low and that I was dilated to a 1.

Ha! My doc used the same term...cervix is favorable. I was 1.5/2cm and 50% effaced. Maybe that means you have softened too?

I was the same with my first. 3cm and favorable so I  Went in they broke my water and he was born 2 hours and 51 min later. Drug free.
