They are very dangerous.   It restricts air flow.  It gives you a higher chance in SIDS.  When the baby actually needs them I would get the mesh.  But a newborn doesn't need them.  It is more like a decoration then anything else.

Not Worth the risk to me. Just a tight fitted sheet in crib and nothing else. Worked just fine w baby #1 w no bumpers in crib so that what I'll do w this baby too.

Never used it when my son was born 2012 never used it with my lg this year.. Never will use them

Get the mesh bumpers. They are safer for babies

We have them and will be using them when he is a pro at rolling over & is very mobile. At that time banging his face on the rails is an actual concern (I did it when I was a baby & bit through my lip). They're dangerous when your baby can't move & roll over very well. If he accidentally rolls over & can't roll back, that's when it becomes unsafe.

Just use common sense & good judgement

as long as they are firmly secured and there is some venting area, they are ok. this is mine. three sides with full bumpers. some moms prefer mesh bumpers.
