How to get toddler to use inhaler?

My three year old was prescribed an inhaler and she's really freaked out by it. I don't know how to get her to take the medication. Anyone have any advice? She has the one with a chamber, like this.

Pretend to use it. Show her it isn't something going to hurt her. Put the mask on your face and take a deep breath in. Show her how to use it. Usually once they see you "do it" they have no problem mimicking.

Do it when she's asleep if it's not the emergency one

Put on the mask yourself and talk into it. You'll sound funny and hopefully she will want to try. Or do it when she is sleep.

I have 3 kids and 2 out of 3 uses the inhaler. You do it with her so she can feel comfortable.. Then let her try by herself builds up her confidence..My kids now when they have a doc appt the doc n nurses love that they do it on there own....

It's actually better if she's crying. She'll get the medicine better. But if she's fighting then wait until she's asleep.

My son had that...I just held it up to his mouth and nose and did it real quick. If she's crying it will get to her lungs better... not saying make her cry. Lol

Is it the noise or the sensation? Maybe using music to cover the noise (that's what used to put my friends tot off using it) or if it the sensation maybe work on that...but most of all make it fun and rewarding ,good luck!

I have had asthma my whole life and had always had to deal with nebulizers and inhalers... usually for young children they both come with masks... maybe ask your pediatrician for other options

I always waited until my son went to sleep and used it! Worked like a charm. If you can't do it while sleeping. Try a game let your child do it on you then you on them and count to 3 but do it on 2!
