Can a faint line dissappear?

I took a pregnancy test 2 days before recommended (I know! It's so hard to wait) and I felt like there was a really (and I mean very) faint line. I usually get line eyes but I genuinely thought I could see something with faded pink colour, so much so I was ready to go and grab another test. I gave it about a minute to stop staring at it, and when I looked again there was nothing. Nothing I could even mistake for a line. Can a faint reading dissappear? Maybe I'm just hoping too much?
