For your first ultrasound do they do transvaginal or abdominal?

I'll be having my first ultrasound at 7w6d. I'm just curious as what to expect. I will probably call too and ask. I've seen photos both ways and I feel like from what I've seen the vaginal man be clearer but everyone is different.

It'll probably be transvaginal. It's similar to a Pap smear. They use lube and insert the probe. Sounds uncomfortable, but trust me, once you see what's showing on the screen you won't even care that the doctor is moving the probe around down there :)

Oh my god I am so nervous. I don't want anything in my hooha!! They have to use a child sized speculum on me at the gyno. My husband can barely fit in me oh no oh no I am so nervous for the first ultrasound 😳😳😳

They'll probably do both. I was told to come with a full bladder, which from my last pregnancy experience means they will do an external u/s first, then they'll probably let me go pee, and then do transvaginal.

Trans when it's that early... Was not awkward or uncomfortable surprisingly

At that stage, it will probably be trans vaginal, but don't be worried! It's actually not bad, even though it seems like it would be. I was so scared to have my first one done that way, but really it was far, far less painful than a pap smear (paps hurt me). It's just a bit uncomfortable, maybe makes you want to pre, but not as bad as you think.
