Anyone had back labor??

Question

What does it feel like in the beggining? I have been having what i assume are contractions. But its in my lower back.. isnt really painful just uncomfortable and when it happens my whole stomach tightens up. I havent started timing them because at first i was just thinking im having back aches.. but they are off and on.. i have never had back labor so im not sure what to look for. It almost feels like my lower back is tightning up. I do not want to go to l&d unless its the real thing. Anyone have any experience with this??

The symptoms you mention sound more like you are having Braxton hicks. I saw my midwife on last Tuesday and while she was checking the baby position my tummy got tighten abit and she explains me I'm having Braxton hicks. As we getting heavily pregnant, we tend to get these Braxton hicks like contractions but more like a practice for your muscle to prepare and relax when the baby is ready to come. But if you have those hicks involving with diarrhoea, vomitting then you should contact midwife or a doctor.

Ok thank yall. Read that bh you dont feel in your back just tightning of the belly with no pain so i wasnt sure. I knew with my 1st when i was in labor. So far they are still happening since 530 this morning but seem to be letting up. I have had some diahreah for a couple days but i dont think i have lost my mp yet. Im only 35.3 but had steriod injections 2 weeks ago because i was dilating and halfway thinned out. This is my 4th but my second and third were induced. My last i went in and was dilated to a 5 and a half and never felt contractions until they broke my water and started pitocin. I have also never felt bh with any other pregnancies. So this is all new to me this time around.

A big cause of back labor is that the baby is in a posterior position. Try leaning over a counter or going onto all fours and swaying your hips. This might help rotate baby into a position where the head won't be pressing into your back.

I had back labor and delivered a posterior baby. I'm doing all that I can to avoid it this time. It it very painful, but you will have contractions in your belly, not just the pain in your back.

I'm having a similar thing.  I think I lost some of my mucous plug yesterday (3 diff occurrences of mucous with some blood).  Also began having slight lower back pain and mild abdominal cramps.  For 30 min the cramping was 10 min apart so I thought they were contractions but since they have been sporadic.  I'm a FTM and don't know what to expect so I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with these kind of symptoms.

I think what you're experiencing is Braxton Hicks contractions.. I had a few episodes of my back hurting/tightening and then it's move around to my stomach. It normally subsides within a few minutes.

My back labor started cramping in my back and then wrapped around my tummy and down my legs. No doubting contractions for me with back labor. It's not a "oh this might be a contraction" but more of a "oh crap that hurts!!"
