Does tapping your dog to correct them work?

I'll tap my dogs on the hind quarters to get their attention when they're doing something wrong. It works. I don't ever actually hit them hard. I pat them harder when I'm petting them. But a stern "NO" and a tap on the butt works for mine. It's more of a "I'm talking to you" tap.

I tapped my dog on the nose once for growling and lunging at my friend's two year old daughter when she went to pet him (he thought she was going after his food)  It was awful and he knew he was in trouble because he stood in the corner of the yard w his tail down and kept himself in a time out for about 20m... Has never done anything like that again thankfully.

You should never EVER tap a dog on his or her nose to tell them off! If you do it could cause blindness and loss of senses their noses are 5X more sensitive than ours and they use it for everything!
