Wedding help? Bride to be!

Question

So I'm trying to plan my wedding, but I just got engaged fairly recently so I have some questions.

1. How many bridesmaids do you usually have? Including the maid of honour, how many should be in your wedding party?

2. What sounds better, a spring or winter wedding? I'm conflicted because we started dating January 1st, and I was thinking of keeping our anniversary date, but a big part of me also wants nice photos outside.

3. What are some ways to incorporate  high school sweethearts into the wedding? We started dating when we were 15.

4. How far in advance should you go dress shopping?

5. What are some fun/interesting things you did at your wedding?

6. Should I hire a videographer? 
7. Would it be weird to have glittery gold bridesmaids dresses in the spring? I love that idea, but I think it fits more with a winter wedding.

Looks like the other ladies have some great ideas but no one has adressed your high school sweetheart question, I saw a cute idea on Pinterest where there were little decorations all over that were a picture of both the bride and groom at each age, you could do that and then when you get to 15 and up, instead of a pic of each of you, do one of you together

You can bring in the high school sweetheart side with the stationery styling. The invites, place settings, order of service, menus and any signage around the venue. It's easy to do, gives a subtle vibe that doesn't engulf the whole day.

Definitely pay for a good video/photographer its well worth it. Doesn't have to be the most expensive or anything. 
With the dress you don't want to buy it really far in advance in case you gain or lose weight. So something like 6 months? Idk exactly but you need time for things to be adjusted and stuff.
With the sweethearts thing I have a couple ideas.. 
You could incorporate it into a photo booth? On the backdrop, you could put up strings and hang dated photos from the years up until now. So you could have the dates on say sparkly gold photo frames that are attached to the string?
Or you could put photos with the centerpieces.. 
Or you could do something totally wild and have like cupcakes with your pictures printed on icing with dates.. Some grocery stores do it fairly cheap. 
Some people bring a projector and have it like a photo album on there for people to watch if they want to..

I'm not married but I've had a bunch of friends weddings to help with lately
1: typical seems to be 2-4 bridesmaids. But I personally wouldn't worry about the number and just ask the people you want even if it's an odd number.
2: The January wedding will probably have more perks with being an off season one. You may get discounted rates everywhere. I would get quotes for both months. (Make a couple temp emails and contact separate - don't do it on the same day 😂)

I went to a wedding once where the couple lined the isle with photos of them throughout their relationship (they were also hs sweethearts). They hung the frames from shepherd hooks.

Dresses need to be done ASAP. Some wedding dresses take months (6+ to get back).

I only had 3 brides maids including the maid of honor, so we had 10 for our wedding party including 3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, bride & groom & our two flower girls.

Gold would be pretty for a fall/winter wedding. But it's your wedding, do what's "you" & have fun with it!

I'm currently planning my wedding and the bridesmaid dresses and wedding dresses should be done right away as some designers take a long time to ship .....I have 6"5 bridesmaids I wouldn't do more than 6 but that's up to you... Also make sure you tell your bridesmaids when you properly ask them that there is financial responsibility involved on their end as they have to pay for their own dress and whatever else you would want them to take care of ... I planned my wedding by using Pinterest I've been pinning things for years and already knew what colors I wanted ... The venue is also important to look for right away so that you can start to pay that off plus you want to get your date booked

If it's not a particularly windy day, you might be able to still get some gorgeous outdoor pictures in the winter. As for the rest, there really isn't a right answer. Do what you want to do. It is your day. I had deep purple and icy blue for my wedding colors, which is usually a winter color scheme, in August.

We're having a small wedding. Two bridesmaids. We did engagement photos in the summer and a winter wedding. For me, we're just having a photographer- no video. You can have whichever bridesmaids dresses you want, it's your wedding.

I didn't have any bridesmaids I only had my maid of honor and 3 flower girls. You can always do photos during the spring for engagement or after your wedding just dress up again and do them. I would start look at least 9 months ahead it normally takes 2 months for a dress to come in and then the alterations. At my wedding I did the typical father/daughter dance but I also did a mother/daughter dance. Then I picked out songs that represented how I felt about my daughters (I have 2) and each of my girls and I had our own special dance.

I say YES to videographer! Should have your dress about 5-6 months before your wedding at the latest. 
Love glittery gold idea for dresses. Have as many bridesmaids as you want! I'd make sure it's an even # with groomsmen though.
