Have you or will you get 3D ultrasound?

Ive been reading up on this and debating now whether I want to move forward with getting a 3D ultrasound. They say it's unconfirmed but could cause risks to your baby such as link to childhood cancers, and issues with brain development. And that certain parts of the technology is similar to CT scans. I know it's unconfirmed and could be crap but not sure if I wanna take the risk just to see baby an extra time.

I would only do it if there was a medical reason. If the doctor thought we needed to get a closer look at something. Other than that, I want to be surprised by how my baby looks! We're also wanting the sex to be a surprise! It's a journey and the anticipation is the best part!

My ob offers one free 3d scan and I didn't know it but they do it at your first appointment (10-12 weeks)with the internal scan. So my first time there they switch to 3d before I could even think.

The place my doc referred me to for NT & Anatomy scans just does it cause they have both types of ultrasounds on their cart so they use that one at the end. Never heard of additional risks but will be googling now.

No. I've never felt the need to do it with my other kids. If there was some medical reason than yes, but not for "fun".

I'm not going to have one - not because of the risks you mention (which I haven't seen any evidence for)  but because I just don't like the pictures from 3d scans. There's something about them that's just unsettling and weird to me.

We are only having one because as a gift to us our Drs office does one at 28 weeks. They get us one picture, unless you wanna pay the $350.00 to have the whole session, and then it's done. If it wasn't a gift from them I wouldn't be doing it. But I've already had 5 ultrasounds. Scheduled for my 6th one on Friday. (Anomaly scan). I don't think there's anymore risk with them then a regular ultrasound, And that's minimal. But I haven't looked into it either.

I had one the other day and since I'm only 16 weeks they couldn't get very good facial views so I'm going back in late August early September to get a better view of his face. But they were able to find out the gender and it's a little boy but they didn't use 3D for that just regular black and white sonogram
