Breast feeding???

My supply has dropped so much that I am only pumping like half an ounce per breast. I've had to supplement formula. I am still giving him the milk I pump.. My question is, does anyone know of a way to get milk supply back up fast? He has been taking formula for almost a week now. And nothing I have done has worked regarding my milk supply.. Please help. My lo is 23 days old.

I'd say let him breastfeed from you instead of pumping even just for a little. Also there are natural supplements like fenugreek you can take and porridge is supposed to help. Stay extremely hydrated too!! 😊

Give him the boob as much as you can. I kind of had the same problem in the beginning when I was only pumping so I started breastfeeding excusively and noticed my supply increased in 24 hours.

Put baby to breast often. Pumping is not a accurate way of measuring what baby would get directly from breast. Think of it this way: on a scale from 1 to 10, your baby is a 10 & the most advanced pump is only about a 5-6.  Your body will start to produce more milk the more it is stimulated. It will keep up with baby's demand! Nurse on mama! Great job on giving him what you can!

Let him nurse babies get more milk out then the pump can and making milk is supply and demand,  the more he nurses the more milk you'll make.

I have under supply issues too...typically get about 1.5 ounces total in a good session. Unfortunately my supply never got higher despite what I did, but the lactation consultant recommended breastfeeding baby until she was fed, followed by pumping to completely empty everything. This also helps signal your body you need more milk. Make sure you are drinking a lot of water and not going longer than 3 hours between feeding/pumping. I'm pretty sure I just physically never developed enough breast tissue for breastfeeding but if your supply has been higher before you should be able to get it back!!!

I actually went through the same thing last week. I was freaking out because I went from a full feeding and pumping atleast 4oz from one boob to barely an ounce. I started hydrating more and started taking fenugreek and my supply has improved. I wish I could produce more milk but atleast I have enough to fill my baby up. My baby is now 21 days today so her appetite has gone up a bit. 
And definitely put your LO on boob, even if he's hungry every hour, you will see your milk supply improve.

I got an info sheet from my lactation consultant that was geared toward moms who would exclusively pump because their babies are in the NICU. It had instructions on something called "power pumping" to increase supply.

I haven't done it myself, but basically it goes like this: once per day, when you do a normal pumping session of 10-20 minutes, follow that by resting 10 minutes then pumping 10 more minutes, rest 10, pump 10, rest 10 and pump 10.  This should take one hour total.

The sheet says don't worry that at first you don't get much from the extra pumping, eventually your breasts get the signal that more is needed.  I guess you can do this until you have your desired supply. Don't do it more than once per day, you'll probably be hurting!

Have you tried taking the herbs? I started fenugreek and blessed thistle. I've also had to start supplementing because my son wasn't gaining weight as quickly as they wanted him to be. I have also started seeing a lactation consultant for help on getting him to latch more effectively. I think if you start putting baby to breast more often that will definitely help to get it going again.
