Is this normal?

I'm almost 26 weeks with my son. I have a daughter who is almost 5. I have been feeling more and more frustration and irritation with her. I also feel like she is more hateful towards me preferring her father over me. Is any of this normal?

Children have a hard time sometimes adapting to the fact there will be another sibling added to the family. Between her getting used to mommy being pregnant and needing that "me" time, she probably doesn't know how or where to direct it. You with hormones changing doesn't help either..the best I'd know how to change things is to have her be involved with the new little one on the way. If you have a room being prepared for the baby, get her involved in decorating or setting stuff up. Have her read her little books to your stomach or tell stories. If you give her some quality time to get used to the new change, she may adapt a lot better with you and new baby when the arrival comes. I had to do this with my daughter when I was pregnant with my son. It got really hard being a stay at home mom and her literally hating my time with her. Once she was involved with the "baby stuff" she seemed to transition much easier to the fact of a new sibling.

I know it's not the same but I was acting that way with my dog until recently (I'm 34wks). She's my first baby and I've always had nothing but patience and love for her but she was really getting on my nerves and then stopped listening to my commands! Probably because I got so irritated lol. Definitely the hormones, my husband has been working on it with me and it got a lot better ☺ at least you notice the changes -  that's most important! I talked to my Dr about it at my last appt and she said it's normal!
