On 6/12 I woke up around 5 am with some painful period cramps (I later learned that these were my contractions although I never felt my stomach tighten). These period cramps came and went all day long. Sometimes they were close together and other times they were far apart. At around 10 or 11 that night I finally went to sleep, but I would wake up every 7-15 minutes because of the pains, because of how intense they were. Around 1am,they finally became so bad that when they hit I was on the floor almost screaming. Around 1:30 I woke up my husband and was like we've got to go I'm dying. We got into a hospital room at 2 and I was checked. They told me I was 3cm dilated (I had been 1cm dilated every week since 35 weeks), so I laid in the bed and waited for them to call my Dr and waited for pain medicine. At 3am they checked me again and I was at 4cm but by this time I was screaming because the contractions were so painful and intense. I asked for an epidural and the whole time he was asking me all the questions I was screaming. I would answer in between screams but it was very hard to focus. Somewhere between 3:30 & 4 I finally had the epidural in and it was starting to take effect. They checked me again around 5 and I was almost 5cm. They came back at 5:45 because my baby's heart rate kept dropping and the monitor kept losing it. They were going to put something on his head to monitor it better but when the nurse reached in to find my cervix she discovered that I was at 10cm lol. They then hurried and prepped my room and got everything they needed for him. I started pushing at 6am and my Dr ended up having to give me a full episiotomy plus a little snipping to the side & he had to use forceps to get my son out along with my pushing. But finally, at 6:17am on Monday morning, my little boy was born. It had turned out the reason he was having issues getting out was that he was turned sideways and his cord was wrapped around his neck. :( other than that, he came out perfect and healthy (: he weighed 6 lbs and 13.7 ounces and he was 20 inches long. He's our 3rd pregnancy but our 1st baby. We're already so in love. 💙
