High chair?

When will I need a high chair? 
Should I get one now?
What kind should I get?

Answer

As long as they can hold their head up, you can put them in a high chair. Make sure if they are less than 4-6 mos that it is a chair that reclines (a full high chair is best for younger babies).

Usually babies start eating solids at around 4-6 mos dependent on your preferences and baby's readiness. However, putting baby in sooner can help them be familiar with the seat.

On the cheap end, the Cosco high chairs are really nice. They usually run 30-50 dollars (sometimes less if you get it in a store) and come in a variety of colors and patterns. Here's a link to just some of the patterns:

In the mid-range price (around 100 dollars), I like the Badger line of high chairs the best. Depending on the color and store you can find them for cheaper than this link:

High range (150+) -  I have friends who love their Boon chairs. It's a bit pricey for the average consumer, but if you can afford it or just want to splurge, it's a really great high chair.

There are other styles that work as well, the Spacesaver chairs are great if you're low on space and keeping to a lower budget. Graco has a full line of chairs in all price ranges, as does Fisher Price. Ingenuity makes some really nice multi-purpose chairs, and they fall around mid range (75-150) depending on the chair style.

Ultimately, go with what you can afford and what you have space for. Amazon has a bigger variety to look at - but you can sometimes find items cheaper at the store or at a stores website as well.

I got this one when my son was about 6 months...he's almost 2 and still uses it

Around 6 months is when they can start eating baby foods so that's the time you should need it I bought my sons around 5.5 months

I used a high chair from 2 months. I had one that reclined so I would put her in it while we ate dinner. She really got used to eatting with us at the table.
