Second hand from his ex?

Hi mums and mums to be! 😀 I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant with my first child, my partner has a 3 year old son from a previous relationship. Personally I want to buy all new baby things for our baby, like a new crib and pushchair. Am I being too stuck up lol. He wants to re use the crib and pushchair and clothes (if ours is a boy), and bits and pieces from his last child.

I see where he's coming from to save some money, I just feel bad that I feel this way. I guess it will be ok because at least I know where all the stuff has been and who has used it before.

Little advice to kick me into reality haha.

Hi Katie! I could see how this could bother you...however...maybe you guys could modify the crib, like painting it a cool new color?!

That way things feel new, your partner gets to have some of the sentimental value from his 3 year old, and the new baby is inheriting some stuff from his older sibling.

We have a his, hers and ours family, and this baby is our first together. We will have some outfits here and there from the brothers our son has from each of our previous marriages, but we both agreed that we just wanted to give this kiddo a fresh start with new nursery things. As he ages, he'll use more and more hand-me-down clothes because we naturally will have them around, but the baby clothes we limited since our boys are 7 and 10 and we don't have many of those still around anyway. My hubby doesn't want any onesies about "daddy's boy" from my son with my ex, nor do I want onesies his ex wife bought for their son with "mamas boy" on them. There's nothing wrong with choosing what you're comfortable with reusing and refusing the rest, or even starting entirely from scratch!

I wouldn't want to do that myself so I see where you are coming from. It's your first child so I think it should be all new stuff :) will be for mine. Second can have some selected hand me downs xo

Don't know if this will help but it's natural what you're feeling! That's part of nesting! You wanna pick things out, brand new! Totally okay. Maybe tell him that you were excited to pick things out since it is your first! He should understand!
