Is it possible to skip a period even though you ovulated??

I'm 18 DPO.  (Yes, I definitely ovulated.) No period, yet. (5 days late) I also took a HPT and it was a BFN.  Is it possible to skip a period even though you ovulated??

I thought that was my period that started and turns out it wasn't.  BFP today!!! 😍😍😍

It's my understanding that ovulating makes your period come unless your pregnant. I got diagnosed with PCOS when I went to see my doctor about my really long cycles which were because I was not ovulating. You can have your period without ovulating but unless your pregnant I don't think it goes the other way. I could be wrong though I'd talk to your doctor. How did you confirm you ovulated?

What pregnancy test are you using and some people take a longer time to build up enough hcg to be detected. I'd keep testing each morning with fmu

Can someone also explain how it's possible to skip a period?  I'm very regular, no new routines or added stress.  I'm racking my brain trying to figure out why I keep testing negative. 😫

Just so you know the only way you can be certain you ovulated is if you have an ultrasound to confirm a ruptured follicle. Opks detect the hormone LH (or hormones with a similar structure like FSH or HCG) and don't guarantee ovulation, so if that's the reason you are certain you ovulated, unfortunately it's not a guarantee. A late period or missed period is usually due to late or skipped ovulation.
