Monster in law

Does anyone else have mother in law issues? I swear mine is horrible she treats me like absolute crap then when my husband does not talk to her she acts like she wants to "call a truce" as she says it. We start going around again and she does the same thing! Everything I say or do she challenges me or has rude remarks. That is if she does not inturrupt me or change the subject. She does not like me and has not since day one. I have tried and tried to get along with her but I am just so over trying and getting the same result. The first time I met her was dinner for my husbands birthday (he was not yet my husband) she starts a convo and looks at me with a devil look and says "everyone should stick to their own kind." I am Mexican, he is white. Well recently there was an issue and she called my grandmother saying she is going to do everything in her motherly power to get him away from me. Obviously it didn't work, he just did not speak to her for a couple months. Now they are back talking and she wants to once again "call a truce." I just feel I am so done trying with her. I am a family woman but I just feel I cannot be a family with her ever.... Thoughts please?Am I wrong? What should I do?
