Did you or will you use a baby Walker?

I've heard they take away from the baby being able to crawl and walk faster. I used one with my first, she was walking at 12 months but I'm not going to with this one. I think it's an excuse to get chores done with out watching baby fully. Or to be lazyish. But this time I'm determined to leave him on the ground and build his muscles.

Seriously ? It's lazy to put your child in a walker? Today is the first day in months I've been on this app and I'm pissed off already. Yeah let's just let our dishes pile up and our house be disgusting cause God forbid we put the baby in the walker so he can play while you clean.

I definitely won't be using one. They hinder motor development and are absolutely terrible for a child's spine. My father is a chiropractor and he would be appalled if I got one hahaha.

Walkers are illegal in my country with a $10,000 fine if you are found in possession of one😕 I would have loved one for my baby!

I would because those chores need to be done. You can't put them off forever and my son seemed to be under the impression you could lol. I'm comfortable with putting LOs in play pens/walkers/whatever for a few minuets while mom does the dishes.

Frankly I woild consider yourself lucky if they like being in any of those things.

No. It's not necessarily about hindering development but more about developing the wrong muscles. My sister had something wrong with her ankles and was told by the doctor that if she used a walker (the one with a seat that they can then move about it) then she would end up not being able to walk at all because of the damage it would do. My health visitor has told me not to use one as well, for the same reasons so I know this info is still current. We're OK with a jumperoo because they automatically push off with their toes but with walkers kids generally has the top of the foot to push with.

My daughter has been using a walk since she was 4 months old. And she crawls every and has been since 7 months!!!

I used one with my first daughter and will use one with this baby. My daughter started crawling at 7 months and started walking at 10 months.

There have actually been many studies on baby walkers and the most recent evidence suggests baby walkers can be potentially dangerous for children, not beneficial. In some parts of Canada they are even banned due to this research.

I think it's a little unfair and judgemental to start assuming ppl r lazy for using it. Some of my in laws are a bit OTT abt it but I honestly don't see the issue, unless u literally leave ur kid in it for hours (which seriously which kid would be that patient anyway) I really don't see the harm. My son plays in it for a couple of mins at a time and he crawls perfectly well. And if u r doing chores (which everyone has to anyway) obv u can't watch ur kid fully anyway so I don't know how u suggest for that to happen. We all have real lives and have to get stuff done and honestly he's prolly a bit safer in a walker than roaming around and able to get into cupboards etc. We need to back off and let each other raise our own kids rather than passing judgement...I don't know what goes on in ur house and u don't know what goes on in mine so it's prolly best if we don't judge each other, we're all doing the best we can!
