Anyone starting there 3month old on solids yet?

Fruit purees, baby cereal just curious as to see when everyone starts their babies on solids.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 6mo for introduction of anything other than breastmilk or formula. There is no need to push solids ahead of that time unless your baby is reaching milestones like sitting on their own, reaching for food and getting teeth. Definitely no earlier than 4 months at the soonest. Please be sure you clear with your pediatrician first. A little baby's digestive system isn't ready to handle foods yet and early introduction of solids can lead to food allergies and other issues. Please consider following recommended guidelines by medical experts. 3 months is way too young.

My son is a little over 3 months. He has been getting really bad reflux and is already on alimentum, but that doesn't fill him up. I just started a few days ago added half a tablespoon into some of his feedings. I was against it at first and had my family telling me it would help. Since doing it, my son isn't spitting up as much, the reflux isn't as bad. And he isn't eating as often. He wakes up the same as before at nights still. for my son, I'm glad I made the switch even though I was ify about it at first.

No solids until between 4-6 months. Talk to your pediatrician before you do! I personally feel like 4 months is still pretty young.

Our pediatrician encourages puréed foods for our 4 month old (3 months adjusted) he and the rest of their physician staff just returned from a conference where the 'closed gut' theory was challenged and debunked. Also on pubmed.org there is a 12 year study on children who are introduced to a 'strong food variety' at or before 4 months and the absence of food and seasonal allergies in 'early fed' children was substantial enough to be published as a clinical result. The study is boring as hell to read unless you're into that kind of reading. Otherwise you can read 'conclusion of peer review' section at the bottom.

REGARDLESS OF MY DR'S STANCE: I would not do any foods outside of formula or breastmilk before talking to your doctor first.

My paed has recommended starting at 4 months because she is a reflux baby and often doesn't get enough calories from milk. So we'll be starting with one homemade purée of vegies per day. I didn't want to start early but I need to do what's best for her.

My Dr said cereal at 4 months but she also said it won't hurt to give it to them sooner for babies with reflux or babies that just can't get full from milk alone. My son is a big eater and she said we can give it to him anytime if we feel he needs it. I don't think cereal will necessarily hurt their tummies, but I don't plan on any solids until 4 months though if we can help it. He eats often (every 2 hours still and sometimes an hour and a half if he's going through a growth spurt) but he still seems to be satisfied until his next bottle most of the time.
