Who has had an IUD before?

My 6 week check up is in less than 2 weeks, and I'm starting to think about what kind of contraception I want to use.
I've only ever used the pill, but I hate the way my body responds to it after a while, and it honestly seems like a hassle trying to remember to take a pill with a new baby, when I can barley remember to eat some days! Lol
Anyway, have any of you tried an iud? And which one? (As I know there are hormonal ones, and non hormonal), and what was your expierence with it like? How was it being inserted? How long did it take you to get pregnant again once you had it removed? Thanks ladies!

I had the paragard non-hormonal iud for 6 years and I loved it. I never had any problems with it. It hurt a little getting it put in. I got it taken out (not painful) in July 2014 and got pregnant in September 2014

I had mirena before I got pregnant and loved it. Insertion did hurt a little ( not sure if say that now after going through childbirth). Took me about 6 cycles to get pregnant when I got it removed. No period for most of the time I had it.

I had the mirena and loved it. There was a little pain getting it in, but that was before I had a baby.  My midwife told me after you have a baby getting an iud doesn't feel as uncomfortable. I got pregnant two months getting it removed.

I was just here trying to decide what to do as I also didn't do well with the pill & with baby twins I'm afraid I'd forget to take it. My sister in law has the paraguard (non-hormonal) and she said it hurt really bad being inserted and the bleeding/cramping was bad for 3 months after. I opted for the mirena first as I was afraid the paraguard would just cause my bleeding/cramping to be worse & I used to have bad ones before already. I had a c-section so I don't know if that made a difference but the insertion of mirena  as awful & I like to think I tolerate pain pretty well 😰 I made it though! Lol. Drs wording is misleading "little pressure and little pinch" actually means "pain!" Haha Hoping I don't have any adverse reactions to it so I don't have to take it out and try the paraguard. Maybe if u had a vaginal birth it won't be so bad! Good luck girly!
