Chronic UTIs

Amy
Does anyone else have an issue with reoccurring or chronic UTIs? I've battled it for a long time and finally found that taking Cipro after sex helps prevent them for me. Anyway you can't take Cipro if you're pregnant and I have to switch meds since we are trying for a baby...which aren't working! I have my first uti in a year. I'm afraid it'll put a strain on getting pregnant. If anyone else has something similar I'd love to hear what you do!!!

Look up D-Mannose. It's seriously a live saver. It actually gets rid of the bacteria (most common is E.coli, so if you have another form of bacteria it might not work). I had a recurring UTI last 6 months and several rounds of Cipro and started taking D-Mannose pills and drink a glass of non-sweetened cranberry juice a day and thankfully haven't had it come back yet! If you are TTC I will only lay low for at most 10 mins, then I my bladder right away and if I'm feeling really irritated I'll pop a few D-Mannose pills or drink a glass of cranberry juice. Best decision I've ever made!

I used to get them all the time until my doctor was like do you pee right after having sex and I didn't! Now I wait like 5 minutes or so and then pee. Haven't had one since! We are also ttc and she said peeing right after won't effect sperm travel but I still wait.

yeah I always pee right after! I have read mixed reviews on waiting after sex to pee when ttc so I've been waiting a few minutes! they are the most frustrating thing!
