Anyone else considering Home birth?

There is such a stigma placed on Home Birth, but typically the hospital's are more dangerous with all the interventions. I had a horrible experience with my first and I want my second to go differently. Watch the Business of Having a Baby on Netflix. It is extremely eye opening. I feel our bodies are made to do this. Just curious if anyone else is thinking of doing it.

I am. The labor with my 5th baby was only 58 minutes and he ended up being born on my bathroom floor. I don't want to risk not making it to the hospital again so I am hiring a midwife to come to me and having a home birth

Yes girl! Im having a home birth through The Farm midwifery. The key is to find a midwife who you trust. Ignore the stigma and get a copy of Ina May's guide to childbirth. At the end of the day having options and choosing the birth thats right for YOU is the thing to do! Whether is unmedicated homebirth, or planned cesarean birth is about choices and empowerment and recognizing that birthing a baby is a natural process that has gone on without medical intervention since the beginning of time. Its only in the last hundred years that weve started treating pregnancy as a sickness instead of a very normal process. I would totally consider it if I was a good candidate for home birth and I could get my husband on board! My first was born in the hospital. I wanted completely natural but ended up with a few interventions. My water broke early in the morning and I was not progressing by the afternoon. They started giving me Pitocin which dropped the babies heart rate and the contractions were killer! I cried and told them all that I gave up, I wanted the drugs. Luckily I had hired a Doula, and she recommended instead of getting the epidural, to get a low dose of Nubain. That was enough to call me down, and luckily they took me off the Pitocin because of the reaction of the baby. Everything wore off late that evening and I had my natural birth early the next morning. Wish I could have avoided the the drugs considering one just led to the other. But because my water had broken so early, my fluid was low. I really trust my doctor, he is great and understands what I wanted in labor. He knew I really wanted a natural birth and explained to me my situation step by step. It came down to the fact I would much rather try the Pitocin to have a vaginal birth than make no progress and up with a C-section.

I watched that film and actually started working towards becoming a doula! With that said, I still chose to have my daughter in a hospital naturally because our birth center closed. No IV (just heplock), was able to move freely (I ended up wanting to labor on the bed though!), and was never pressured into meds or an epi. It made me feel more at ease that if anything was to go wrong, she would be taken care of.

No never! You cannot plan what will happen! If I had a home birth like my boyfriend and his family wanted my daughter and I would have died! I am so happy I was at the hospital.

No. If my first went great then maybe, but my first resulted in a C section because my pelvis wasn't wide enough for her to fit and she was 5.7 pounds.

I was thinking of having a water birth at home until I found out it was twins... I can't take the risk.

No. My son would have died if he was born at home. Even if this one is 100% healthy I couldn't take that chance.
