Do your strings poke your partner?

My boyfriend sometimes has to go more shallow during sex than we would like because the strings poke the head of his penis. I got my IUD in on May 19. Aren't the strings supposed to wrap around my cervix?

The problem also could be they are cut to short and aren't curling up and depends on the time of your cycle since your cervix is always changing 
I would tak to your doctor if it continues I know when I went for a check up a month after I got mine that was one of the first questions my doctor asked
