Postpartum Care?

Question

Just wondering about postpartum care. What are some of the necessary things to buy, that new mothers have realized that is really needed or necessity? Be it after vaginal or cesarean. I've read a lot of people talking about tucks pads. But what else? 
And so far is the bleeding really bad after delivery? 
I'm a FTM of a baby boy. Due today but nothing yet. Hopefully soon.

Honestly just what the hospital gave me is all I've needed! I'm now 10 days PP and I've only needed the squirt water bottle and maxi pads! I bought some soothing numbing spray but never needed it. Bleeding has almost completely stopped and the pain and swelling was gone at about 5 days PP. I've been pretty lucky I'd say! Good luck!

My hospital provided everything I needed for after care. The worst of the bleeding was the day I spent in the hospital which was nice because I didn't have to worry about the clean up and I just stayed in my hospital gown and used their mesh panties lined with puppy pads and menstural pads. I ended up taking everything they provided home and made my own little pads and it wasn't that bad. I had a vaginal birth and 2 degree tear and it wasn't really that bad. I also suggest taking a shower whenever you can. I took 2 showers a day and let me tell you, best choice ever. My husband is really good though and super supportive so that helps. Good luck. I had my baby on the 17th, the hospital provided witch hazel and a spray that kind of numbs the pain as well as a bath that sits on the toilet. All helped but honestly the pain isn't as bad as I expected and the bleeding has slowed down to a light period

Tucks are great! Oh, and I used the always discreet underwear this time around versus big bulky pads. I'm sooo glad I got them. I didn't have to worry about leaking at all and they're very comfortable.

I had a 19 hour med free birth and a 2nd degree tear. The hospital gave us "hospital strength" litocain and it really is stronger than what you can buy! (I know that to be true since we already had the regular and extra strength at home). I would ask them for some! That and a few Tucks pads (even though I never had hemorrhoids) was all I ever used. I took home a million ice pack pads from the hospital but never used them. I bled for a few days to a week (I can't remember exactly) but it wasn't terrible. I just used regular menstrual pads.

I had to buy more overnight pads Bc I had strong bleeding even on day 10. And the Tucks pads are great. Other then that you get everything you need at the hospital.
