Owlet?

Is anyone getting an Owlet or does anyone have experience with one? I'm trying to decide if I want to invest in one or not!

Medical opinion here and a mothers thought:

Baby monitors like those are only good as like a placebo effect for the parent. They won't stop your child from passing away from SIDS or some other unknown medical condition.

SIDS can not be stopped. You can think "oh if I catch it in time" but no. Sorry. If it is going to happen it will.

Now what these baby monitors can do is if your child is suffocating and they block their airway they can alert you to check on them and remove what is causing the airway blockage. But why spend all that money when you can simply follow the rules of putting your baby to sleep with nothing in the crib/bassinet. This means no toys, no blankets (except swaddle unless your baby can roll over then no blanket), no crib bumpers, nothing that can become an issue.

Do what makes you sleep better at night but don't feel bad if you invest all that money and something still happens.

Take infant/baby CPR. It is free thru most hospitals and it will put your mind at ease more than any monitor can.

I bought one. Did a bunch of research and it is the best one. You may still have a couple false alarms, like the others, but it is the best one on the market!!!

I really wanted one in the beginning, but I've heard so many things about faulty monitors going off and scaring the crap out of the parents over nothing that I'm a little worried to drop the money on it now.

I have a friend whose monitor went off several times and ended up being a false alarm. Her pediatrician said he gets so many parents in the office concerned about their baby not breathing well when it is simply a faulty Owlet and not actually anything wrong with the baby. I originally really wanted one but after hearing that I decided against it. I think it would stress me out more having it than doing without! I didn't have one with my first and we did just fine :)

I was totally going to buy one but a lot of the reviews said the socks were not small enough and give you faulty readings that make you think the worst but then when you check on baby they're fine. Baby will just sleep next to me in bassinet/porta crib.

I thought about it but it can't SIDS just let you know it's happening so it's a lot of money...
