Too late?

I am 15 years old and about a year and a half ago I was inappropriately touched by a male family member.. In the genital area. I never told anyone because I thought I would get in trouble . I don't know why but I never told anyone. It's always on my mind and I feel extremely uncomfortable whenever he comes over our house. Is it too late to tell someone? Because it's breaking me down inside I can't keep it to myself any longer 😪

It's never too late to tell someone. It may be too late to take legal actions of sorts, but it's never too late to tell someone you trust.

If you tell your Mum or Dad this family member may not be allowed to come around anymore or may not be allowed around you, putting you in much less danger and probably helping your mental health. You won't have to worry anymore. X

No, it's not too late. TELL YOUR PARENTS. That disgusting pervert needs to at least be told to stay away from you. I'm not sure if your parents can press charges but at least you can make sure he stays away. Please don't keep this too yourself, because if you do, this disgusting person might think he can try again.

Yes!!! It is very normal to feel uncomfortable around that person! And it's never too late, you should definitely tell someone so you can get it off your chest and hopefully he can get in trouble or atleast be out of your life...I'm here if you need to talk about it but you should definitely tell someone, anyone! :)

It depends on the extent of the sexual abuse (what he did) and which state or country you live in. I did a cursory check based off of the information you (assuming you live in the US) provided and the statute of limitations ranges from 1 year to indefinite. I hate to tell you what to do, so I'll tell you what I'd do in that situation. I would tell a family member (who I trust, that would believe me), teacher, counselor or doctor. Just be aware telling someone like a doctor or counselor means there will be likely more to come of it. Doctors and counselors are mandatory reporters so the will have to report what you say to the police. Please keep yourself safe. If you want more advice I'll help anyway I can.
