Day 11 follow up/weight check :)

Hope

Lux and I had a pretty awesome follow up appointment today compared to news we were told 2 weeks ago.

At my last doctor appointment Lux was only measuring about 35 weeks and they guessed her weight to only be about 4 to 5 pounds (born 3 days later weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces), but their larger concern was I hit 200 pounds about 30 pounds over my prepregnancy weight and well over "healthy" considering I'm only 5'4". That combined with the fact I couldn't keep my iron up, my blood pressure down, and was retaining water horribly they were beginning to be concerned and labeled me "high risk".

Well, Lux was born 11 days ago. She weighed 7 pounds 12 ounces but lost a little over 4 ounces prior to being discharged. We decided to ebf her and she would only nurse 5 to 10 minutes every 4 hours until the past two days (as opposed to the "recommended/standard" 20 every 2 hours) so regular weight checks were suggested.

Friday she weighed 7 pounds 14.5 ounces (so she regained to birth weight plus some). Today she weighed 8 pounds 13.8 ounces. Needless to say with as irregular as she eats compared to what the books say she is growing great :)

Then I got on the scale for the first time in 11 days. No dieting or food changes and zero exercising. I'm down 37 pounds!! Thirty seven! So I'm even below my prepregnancy weight. She actually ended up using sugar bags to double check both scales bc of such drastic changes for both of us!!

On top of that. My blood pressure was 90/60 (that's my prepregnancy normal) and my iron--even without supplements was still hanging out around 15 instead of my super lows of 5-8 we've been seeing even with added iron pills, vitamins, and added iron in food.

Oh and I finally have toes and ankles again. Haha.
