Is birth control worth it?

I have irregular periods so I can miss my period for months but when it happens it hits me like a bus and the pain is just horrid. It's only bad for the first three days so I take some Tylenol and I am still suffering but not as horribly. I know there can be some weird/bad side effects of birth control so I'm a little apprehensive to give it go. I was able to deal with my periods but now me and my boyfriend are sexually active (currently using condoms) so now I'm rethinking BC. Should I give it a go or just stick to what I know?

When I started bc my periods got way lighter and I cramped less and they are shorter and always on the same day. It's worth it.

It is worth it. They help regulate you, and also give you the iron you need when you have periods so their are less bothersome side effects, such as head aches. I had the same problem with my periods and am just starting the pill. It is very worth it.

Oh my god it was so worth it to me. I used to go anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months without a period, and then they would be painful with cramps, large clotting, and lot of pain. Now I know exactly when my period is coming, it super regular, and my symptoms have gotten a lot better. You should go to the doctor to get checked out for PCOS just in case though.
