How do you put your newborn to sleep?

Ladies, with my due date in August fast approaching, I find myself wondering about something very basic. How do you out a newborn to bed? Just swaddled? Swaddled with a blanket? Just wearing warmish onesies?

Baby should be laying on their back towards the end of the basket/crib so they cant slip down.

If they have a blanket it should be tucked in tightly enough that it cant slip up over their face. You dont have to swaddle but might help if the baby doesnt settleas it can be a comfort and stops you having to cuddle them to sleep.

I would put them either in a vest if it is warm or a baby grow if not.

You can buy thermometers to check the temp.of the baby or if you feel the back of their neck to get an idea if they are warm. Dont feel their hands or feet as they generally run colder.

And always remember that they respond to your stress. If they're having trouble going to sleep and you start to stress out, put bub down and walk away for a minute to calm down. Putting bubs and toddlers to sleep is about being a calm, reassuring presence... So I've kinda gotten to the point where I can cheerfully ignore sleep time protests and smile, stroke foreheads, rub arms/legs/chest reassuringly and affectionately and talk softly to them until they calm down and sleep. Depending on how old they are, either about how silly they're being or how I understand that they don't want to miss out on play time but they need some sleep to have fun.

We always swaddled our LO. Helps them feel more secure. As they grow older and start breaking out of their swaddle you can put them in this thing called a zippidy zip. Greatest invention ever.

Get your sleep now before baby arrives. .. program baby when you prefer to sleep.

I'm only expecting baby to give me 5 hours the least(during breast feeding schedules)-, and I'm being faithful to sleep at:: Scienctific REM sleep on 9/10-12/1am

Doctor says I'm on target and doing this routine faithfully before baby is born will "help" me to get baby to sleep when I want to sleep!!  😊 I sincerely hope I helped some of you mommas out there.
