I have stopped smoking (I am now 20 weeks...) I don't plan on smoking any more throughout my pregnancy but I need to know about drug testing? Will they test me? Will I be positive? What about my babies poo... I'm so scared. ☹️

I was tested without my consent in the hospital after giving birth. I had my baby in May. I live in North Carolina and delivered at a hospital here. They also did a test on my newborn. We both tested positive for thc. The had to, by law, report it to CPS. A case was opened against me and they threatened to take me to court to have my newborn taken from my custody. Currently my CPS worker has the right to stop by unexpectedly for checks at my private residence at any time with no notification. I have to submit to drug testing whenever the case worker decides. Also I have to have someone who can be held responsible for checking in on how I'm doing and reporting their findings to my caseworker, twice a day, every single day. Not trying to scare you, but that's the reality of my situation. I thought they had to at least inform me if they were going to drug test me but they did not. Hopefully my case will be closed soon but had I known that they would in fact drug test me, without my consent, for no reason at all, I would have stopped smoking in the months prior to delivering.

I guess it depends on what's what part of North Carolina that you live in cuz I live in Salisbury North Carolina and they haven't drug tested me they said that they won't drug test unless they have suspicion

As long as you don't smoke anymore you'll be fine. I don't know anyone nor have I ever met anyone that smoked more than I did and it took almost 60 days for me to get clean. So if I was clean by 2 months you should be too.

I've smoked marijuana on and off and heard they will take baby if you test positive for anything after birth and I flipped out and quit. I hope it's out of my system when he's born. Some people say it makes you a bad mum but honestly it's helped me so much. Headaches, MORNING SICKNESS and helps me sleep ( so good ) and increases my appetite ( which docs said I needed to eat more ) and oh how it releaved my stress. And me and baby is just fine I don't see the big deal

I'm in nc. I've tested positive up till 30 weeks. (Please no judgement I was extremely sick and they prescribed me 9 pills a day which I replaced with edibles... So sorry but it think it's better.) as long as you do not test positive at birth there is no need to worry. Quit now and your fine! Regardless of previous tests. If you do test at birth they will call cps and do a home visit. Don't stress mama it's all good!

How often were you smoking and how much? As long as you don't test positive at birth, you should be fine. It depends on your fat content and other factors, how long it takes to get out of your system.
