OS, mucus, & dairy ðŸ˜
My daughter is 13 weeks & has been gaining weight. I believe she was in the 50th percentile at her last doctor's visit. She is EBF. When she was first born her diapers have consistently been yellow and seedy. I also noted that during my entire pregnancy I couldn't consume dairy/99% of all foods (hyperemsis). Once we we were home I started to feel better and ate normally, which included dairy. Her diapers changed from yellow/seedy, to green, mucus-y, with red blood streaks in it. So I'm assuming a possible dairy sensitivity/allergy. I asked the lactation consultant that my Hosptial provides and she said if I want to cut dairy, I can. But didn't give me too much information on it. So I'm not sure if this is something I should do. My daughter is extremely fussy, spits up, and projects vomit often, we tried reflux medicine but it didn't help.Â
Also, I have an oversupply. I think I read on KellyMom that this can also cause green diapers? So I've tried block feeding for two months now. I've seen zero results. I stated with switching every 2, 4, and now I'm at 6 hours. I'm still spraying everywhere, still staying super engorged, and my daughter nurses maybe 15 minutes total during the day. She mostly nurses at night, which I think everyone's supply is a bit lower then? So maybe it's easier for her, I'm not sure. The moment my let down happens, she screams and cries and refuses to nurse until she's calmed down. So I will now, once I feel the let down (is it still suppose to be painful?) I let it spray into a burp cloth, but at that point she's too frustrated from waiting and won't latch. I also try to read her hunger cues, but now I can't ever tell. She's found her fingers and is obsessed with them. She prefers them it seems than to nurse.Â
Is there anything I can do? I feel like I'm just disappointing my daughter because I'm failing at such a natural thing. Sorry for posting anon, I'm just embarrassed 😔
