Has anyone gave birth vaginally with herpes or do you know anyone who has?

Was the baby okay? Did the baby come out with herpes? I know babys cant fight it and my midwife is trying to make me do vaginal and i am super scared for my babys health. I would love to have natural but i always thought that wasn't an option anymore? Does anyone know anyone in this position and what was the outcome? Was everything fine?

You'll be okay as long as you have no outbreak . I know someone who ended up having an outbreak while in labor so she had a c section . Wishing you the best of luck

You can have a vaginal birth as long as you do not have an outbreak. Having an outbreak and trying to do it vaginally poses too much of a risk. Once you hit around 36 weeks your midwife should prescribe you Valtrex to decrease your risk of having an outbreak so a vaginal delivery is more possible.

As long as you take your medicine ahead and during and you don't feel the tingle, you'll be ok. I have a perfectly healthy 5 year old after if found out I head it half way through my pregnancy. Good luck. It's very possible. I will be doing it again this time too as long as all is well down south.

My sister gave birth vaginally to her son, and he came out fine. No complications. She was not having an outbreak at the time of delivery, but does have herpes. He's a healthy happy 3years old now. No worries:)

My mom had a c section planned for my sister and I. She took medicine for herpes and didn't have an outbreak but the doctors probably just recommended that to be safer but it could just depend on how minor to severe you are. Your midwife would know best because there's so many cases like that so they are a better judge.

You risk transferring it to baby if you deliver while during an outbreak. Your midwife should prescribe valtrex (acyclovir) prior to your delivery to decrease your chances of having an outbreak.

If you have an outbreak you need a c section. A woman I know was made to do a vaginal because of the very low chance and her daughter contracted it into her vocal chords and needs surgeries all the time. Very traumatic on the child and very expensive, ended up being a huge lawsuit.
