What to do???

My hubby and I both work full time jobs... Normal-ish hours M-F. I've been thinking so much about it lately!!! When baby comes, how long do i get for maternity leave??? Are there day cares for newborns?? Do I stay one with my baby?? How does this work?! I have no family in the new state that we just moved to. And he has family, but not much, and they all work! So what is going to happen?! What has anyone else done?? Am I freaking out for no reason? 🙈🙈🙈🙊😫😫😫

You should probably talk to HR when you're ready to find out about maternity leave. You may be able to find moms in your area through this app or maybe like Meetup.com to ask about good daycare places. I hope this helps!

That's true. Mine does but the monthly max is like $1200 I think so I took out an extra disability insurance a couple years ago and pay $60 per month for it. That way I can claim that also and basically get paid the same as my work pay checks would be while I'm out for maternity.

If you do plan to totally quit your job make sure you factor in how that will affect your retirement goals/savings and any health insurance plans you have set up!

In America do you only get 6 weeks maternity paid!? This seems so different to the UK, as a teacher I will currently get 9 months off (some full pay, some statutory maternity pay). Do most women go back to work so soon?

I was able to stay home once our first son was born, and i haven't gone back. I did in home child care for a year, and recently stopped.
You need to sit down and talk with your SO, go over your pay vs childcare, how long you get off of work and truly see what you want. 
For me, i had a hard time putting our son in childcare and i didn't want to miss out. We had our hard times ($$$), but were always able to make it through.

You should talk to your human resources person about your maternity leave / short term disability. All companies are different and it may depend on how long you've been there. Most daycares take infants from 6 weeks old. This is very very young. Most women try to take a loner leave, around 12 weeks if they can. But it would probably be 12 weeks no pay so you'll need to start saving and discuss finances with your partner. It will be tough with no family. My mom is retired and helps me out 2 days a week. You will figure it out!! First step is find out what HR says!!

I will get 6-8 weeks off 6 for vaginal delivery and 8 if it's a c section. Then I will go back to work full time but baby will be with daddy. I work outside the home in a direct care position(to have good health insurance) but we also own our own business so while baby naps he can be working on things at home and when I'm home he can take time to get work done as well. We will work that all out when the time comes. By lucky enough we don't have to worry about daycare because he will be home.

Day cares do typically accept kids after 6 weeks though.

What my mom and dad did was my dad worked days and my mom did nights. It's something I thought of doing as well but my man refuses he wants to do all the work:/ so I'm saving up as much as I can to help out later on.
