Membrane sweep? Helpp

What exactly happens during a sweep? I am 2 days overdue, no signs except backache and the odd cramp and never had an internal check to see how things are progressing and booked in for a sweep tomorrow. What should i expect during and after? Im a ftm and clueless about what happens or the possible effects afterward

So the doc will do an internal exam to see if you're dilated at all or not. To sweep you, they'll insert a finger into your cervix (if you're dilated enough to allow for it) and kind of twist to sweep between your water membrane and the inner opening of your cervix. It's incomfortable but not unbearable...like a bad pap. lol Good luck!

If your body is ready to go into labor it will put you into labor. If not it will just cause cramping

Eeek I have this on Thursday if little boy doesn't make an appearance before hand, feel nervous about it, but hopefully it should speed things up a little!? Xx
