Trying to get my ego prego.

Ok so I'm 23 and have been on birth control since I was 16 or 17. I want to stop taking my birth control so my husband and I can start trying to start our family. Does anyone have any tips on how I can stop my birth control without possibly throwing me out of wack? I was prescribed birth control so young because my period didn't start on its own and they wanted to make sure it was regulated. So now I'm worried that if I just stop my birth control I might get thrown for a loop... any tips or advice would be great!!!! TIA
