Intussusception in my 3 month old
I took my 3 month old to his pediatrician last Tuesday because he started having blood in his stool. The doctor sent me home with a stool sample kit with instructions to collect his stool and bring back for lab work to see if it was an infection. Later that night he was just screaming in pain so I decided to take him to the ER. What I thought was a stomach bug turned into an emergency surgery. Turns out my little guy had intussusception. Part of his bowel was folded into his colon causing a blockage. If left untreated it could have caused organ death or eventually fatal for my baby. So don't do what I did. If you see something like blood in stool or anything that seems off about your baby then listen to your mommy instincts and don't be afraid to go straight to the ER. If I would have waited on the lab work at his doctor it all could have ended a lot more tragically.
