Hcg levels? Anybody familiar with this?

So on 6/15 I got my BFP and last Thursday I had my first prenatal appointment. 
They only did a confirmation urine pregnancy test (positive) and some blood work. So I called back today for my results and was told my Hcg Quant. was only 4.88. The tech. didn't tell me what this meant as far as how far along I am, but said this could mean a "bad" pregnancy. Every time I try calling the office I get the answering machine with no returned calls from any of the staff.

I guess my question is this:
Does the 4.88 level sound right for only being 5 weeks pregnant at the time of the blood draw (which I think* I am)? My next appointment isn't until July 14 and that is when I will have my ultrasound, but the MA on the phone said this low level could mean a "bad" pregnancy. I've already had a miscarriage in the past so I don't believe it's too far of a stretch for me to kind of be upset already hearing negative news this early on.

My levels at 3 weeks and 3 days were 24. I was told those numbers were extremely low and to prepare for the worse. However, 2 days later they rose to 99.. 2 days after that they were 280 and then 3 days after that they were 2,400. Long story short my numbers were just fine! Yes, 4.88 is very low and on the borderline of being considered "pregnant" BUT, I believe you may have just caught your pregnancy extremely early!! It's not the initial number that matters so much as the next number recorded. As long as they're at least doubling then you should be totally fine!!!

Take another at home test and see if the lines gotten darker! That may give your heart a little reassurance until they check your levels again!❤️🌈👶🏽

It does sound low. Are they not doing a second blood test? They usually do one two days later.

I'm currently 20dpo about 5 weeks. I had my first hcg check last Wednesday & mine was at 87. Everybody is different. As long as the number is doubling every 48-72 hours then the pregnancy should be viable. That is a very low number are they going to retest in a couple days?

When I miscarried at 5 weeks in Feb, my hcg was at 20 and the Dr said that was very low.  This time I had my hcg tested at 3w3days and it was 50 then it tripled 3 days later.  I was alway under the impression that anything lower than 5 was not considered pregnant.
