Financial situation before trying for kids?

Question

What was your financial situation when you first started trying for children?

Did you and/or your partner have a car? House? Some money saved up? A job?

I'm just curious because they say it costs thousands to have a baby on the first year!

My parents house paid rent I worked husband is military then we moved out got an apartment then a year later bought a house we both have jobs and a savings and a house hence ttc baby 2 if people waited till the could afford it no one would be here money isn't everything when having a kid yes it's a big part but the biggest thing is love and want u have for ur child

I'm 22 and my husband is 28. My little girl is just about to be  a month old. In graduating college in December with my bachelor's and my husband is working on his masters,  so we both go to school full time. We both also work full time. We had a little bit of money saved up when we found out we were expecting because we had some emergencies come up, but that's what savings are for. We have much more now. 
I do think it is hard to go to school and work and have a child but I don't want to give any of those up do I'm persevering. The only thing right now is I don't wanna do any homework and I just wanna cuddle her all day 😭😭😭😭

Nope. We were newly married, hubby was just a PFC in the Army. We could barely afford rent much less much something into savings. But I wouldn't go back and change it. Those struggles is what made us the people we are today. Plus, someone once told me that if you wait until you're in a good spot financially, then you'll never have kids. It just stuck with me because of how true it is.

We're both 27 now. I moved out of my mom's when I was 17, moved in with my sister for a little bit til I got my own place. I did drop out of school but I got my h.s. diploma in only 2weeks. I worked doubles eveyday and bought a car, paid to put my self through cosmetology school. By 19 I owned 2 cars, bought my house with lots of land, and then turned around and paid for my nursing school. I have savings account since I was 15 that I've steadily put money in since. Hes worked since he was 16, during the day hes a lead man at the construction company and at night hes a persinal trainer. We have 10 dogs, 8 cats, 2 horses, and many other pets. We were together for 7 years before we even had our first daughter and then 17mn later we had our second daughter. We've recently expanded our family and adopted 2 more children. We are considering taking in my 3 nieces...while I don't think you are ever really financially ready for a kid, I'm glad we waited awhile to have most things in order before we did.

We own our home, he owns other property,  we both own cars, have lots,saved, have even more saved for retirement,  no cc debt and buy what we want, travel, etc. But we're in our 40s so you'd expect that.

We both had full time well paid careers, we own our own house, we have a car, parents close by, and a small saving safety net. As t happened I'm glad we were in such a solid financial situation because I lost my job when they found out I was pregnant. We're lucky we can live comfortably on my husbands wage but losing a wage has been an adjustment

I'm 26 and he's 23. We both have jobs that pay well, medical insurance, and a modest savings account. We also have a strong relationship, which tbh (in my opinion), is the most invaluable thing you can have when TTC.

We both work full time in jobs that pay over the average salary. We own a good family car, have pensions and no consumer debt. Our only debt is our mortgage which is quite small and easily affordable on the lower of our incomes alone.  I know a lot of people say you can never be properly ready for a baby etc, but I think it is possible and we are. It's a personal choice as to when you feel you should start a family,  but having grown up in a fairly poor household I didn't want the same for my family so chose to wait until I felt financially secure.

Married. Husband works I stay at home. Own a house that were in the middle of remodeling and own two cars. Probably not the best time to remodel the house but we have to be out for a year while it finishes and I figure being in a new place with a baby is easier than a toddler. We'll see!

We are 29/33 both work full time. Own 2 houses  ( mortgaged ) and 2 vehicles. Have about a years expenses saved up for emergency. We have no debt aside from mortgages.   I think you can spend thousands to raise a baby, or you can spend way way less. Just depends on your lifestyle choices.
